Williams Residence                                            Southern Shores, North Carolina

The architecture of the William’s Residence reflects traditional Outer Banks Coast Guard style. The client wanted a house to match the architecture of the old ‘Hilton’ on Bodie Island and to have a watch tower. In addition to the design task of combining these two styles, there was a 35’ height limit. This was the reason for setting the tower off from the main house. The tower, separated by the garage from the house, appears tall compared the house although only slightly taller and complements the house instead of competing with it. Materials and construction reflect the craftsmanship of old creating a timeless effect.
